Tales of an Urban Indian follows young Simon Douglas, from the "Rez" to the mean streets of Vancouver's east side, as he tries to navigate both the cliquish high schools where he's forced to be funny to fit in and the drug-infested dives on Hastings Street where he feels like he's home. This new adaptation commissioned by Green Thumb Theatre is a fast paced, heartbreaking and hilarious exploration of cultural and personal identity.
Written by playwright-performer Darrell Dennis, (Trickster of Third Avenue East, and the film Moccasin Flats) Tales of an Urban Indian was nominated for a Dora Mavor Moore award for Best New Play in 2004.

Thank you for sharing this amazing play with us. I was very moved by the performance and felt that our students were deeply touched by the messages presented in the play. I was impressed with the actor's energy and ability to convey so many different emotions. It is one of the best productions that I have seen at our school. Thank you very much!

I watched this performance yesterday as part of a school assembly and found it amazing! The bits of humour and comedy found throughout the play kept people paying attention while still giving out the ever important message. The actor was amazing and... everyone enjoyed it.
