Invisible Kids empowers children to address issues that can make a difference in their lives. They also learn the value of working together as a team, developing strategies to address issues in their community.
A playground is the setting that brings together five school chums Georgie, Thiun, Vince, Samantha and Chris. The children come from diverse cultural backgrounds which they share, their friendships growing stronger as they learn about one another. Georgie, who loves to pretend she is Tarzan, is waiting for her eldest sister to finally arrive from Jamaica. Thiun, an emigrant boy from Vietnam, arrived in Canada as one of the boat people. Vince was born in Canada, but experiences harrassment due to his skin colour, having a ferocious dog set upon him. Chris is the only Caucasian in the group and is willing to stand up for and support his friends.
The children find out that there is a field trip coming up to an exciting destination, and much planning begins. But news that Georgie's sister's immigration to Canada from Jamaica has been delayed by two years re-directs their focus. Materialistic Samantha selfishly decides to go on the field trip regardless, but the others decide to create a petition that will be sent to the office of the Prime Minister and the CBC, advocating for changes in Canada's immigration policy.
