The Windigo is based on a classic Ojibway myth whose timeless message continues to resonate with family audiences. The play encourages young people to look within themselves to uncover the solutions to the challenges before them.
The Ojibway believe the Windigo is an evil spirit that preys on unsuccessful hunters during the winter months. In order to achieve the personal greatness he so strongly desires, the play's central character, Half Sky, must defeat the Windigo. To accomplish this Half Sky must face his greatest fears by looking deep within himself and risk losing those in his life who are most important to him.
