Shannon Maung Appointed Next General Manager of Green Thumb Theatre

Vancouver, BC - After a nation-wide search, Green Thumb Theatre’s Board of Directors is excited to announce the appointment of Shannon Maung as the company’s new General Manager. Her role will commence on September 19th, 2022.

“Shannon’s passion for arts management is clear,” says Robert Kosnica, Co-President of Green Thumb’s Board of Directors. “She brings over a decade of experience in live-performance management and administration to the organization, and we are excited to see what she achieves in this next chapter for Green Thumb.”

The Board of Directors extends their thanks to the Hiring Committee for their efforts in securing the right fit for this role, and wishes to thank all of the incredibly capable candidates who applied.

Prior to joining Green Thumb, Shannon worked with Vancouver TheatreSports, the Granville Island Theatre District, and most recently with WISH Drop-In Society. Her dedication to live performing arts and social justice make her an ideal candidate for leadership at Green Thumb.

“My first introduction to Green Thumb was as a Juror for the Jessie Awards, seeing CRANKED. I was impressed by the content, and was happy to see social issues being presented in such a digestible way for young audiences,” Shannon recalls of her first impressions of the company. “When presented with the opportunity to join such a wonderful and established organization, saying ‘yes’ was a no-brainer. I cannot wait to get started on supporting this incredible organization’s work and initiatives.”

“I am delighted to welcome Shannon to Green Thumb, and look forward to working collaboratively to build on the company’s incredible history,” Artistic Director Rachel Aberle said. “Her strong organizational skillset and dedication to fostering a positive, results-driven work environment are the perfect combination to ensure Green Thumb continues to deliver excellent, professional theatre to young people nation-wide, while fostering equitable, sustainable work practices across all of our operations.”
