Casting Statement

Green Thumb Theatre is actively seeking to dismantle inequity in the theatre sector, and to furthering access, inclusion, and equity in our work. We strongly encourage applications from BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and other communities facing systemic marginalization, and welcome members of those communities to self-identify as they feel comfortable. Green Thumb also recognizes that artists and contractors are informed by all facets of their identities. We welcome applicants to inform us of their pronouns if they wish, and to include details about how their identity informs their practice and needs as they see fit. Additional Information

Green Thumb Theatre is seeking submissions from Lower Mainland based performers for the role of RONNIE in CAGED by Rachel Aberle. Directed by Anita Rochon.  The show will be touring to high schools throughout BC in the spring of 2027.

Contract dates (subject to change):

February 8, 2027 – Sunday April 4, 2027 with a possible extension to April 11, 2027

All artists will be engaged under a CTA form of contract, specifically Article 55:00 Theatre for Young Audiences. Submissions from Equity and non-Equity performers are welcome. Accommodations are arranged and per diems are supplied for any out-of-town touring as per the CTA.

About the show:

How do you navigate a relationship when you don’t even know what a healthy one looks like? Can a friendship survive the tension between love and control?

After a summer apart, two teenage friends reunite in their secret spot in a local park—a refuge for shared memories and trust. Everything shifts when one of them arrives with a new boyfriend whose charm gradually gives way to controlling behaviour. As red flags surface, the pull of anew relationship begins to strain the bond between the two friends, forcing hem into a difficult dilemma.

Roles to be cast:

Ronnie, 15.  She/Her. Any ethnicity.

A young person who is very serious about dance and does well in competitions. Best friends with Jaz, also 15. Ronnie has just started dating Trev, her first real boyfriend.  

Green Thumb welcomes folks self-identifying underrepresented artists to submit to build a diverse ensemble that reflects the populations of the high school audiences we serve.

Characters will be portrayed by adult actors.

The roles of Ronnie and Trev have already been cast.

Auditions will be taking place in-person at Green Thumb Studios at 5560 McKinnon Street on October 6, 2026. Sides will be provided in advance of the audition.
