Remuneration:                $37,000- $40,000 per annum. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Upon completion of a three-month probation period, the Sales & Tour Manager is eligible to enroll in the Extended Benefit Plan.

Job Description

 

Reporting to the General Manager, the Sales & Tour Manager is responsible for the promotion and sales of all Green Thumb touring school shows, workshops, tour planning and logistics, and any ancillary activities related to those accountabilities.

 

The Sales & Tour Manager works collaboratively with other Green Thumb staff members: with the Artistic Director, General Manager and Company Manager on tour strategy; the General Manager to approve sales strategies; and the Development and Outreach Officer to align annual tour and sales strategies with society development and outreach activities.

 

The Sales & Tour Manager provides professional support(including but not limited to contract preparation, invoicing, and scheduling)to the Artistic Director, General Manager and Board of Directors, and acts as an advocate for Green Thumb Theatre to arts professionals, various stake holders, and the community at large.

 

The Sales & Tour Manager must be an enthusiastic, results-driven team player. They must be comfortable making sales phone calls to both new and existing school and venue contacts, with a strong focus on building, maintaining, and developing relationships with educators, administrators, venue managers, and sectoral colleagues.

 

Work Schedule:

The Sales & Tour Manager’s schedule will vary based on seasonal needs. From approximately September through June (about 44 weeks), the role requires an average of 30 hours per week, spread over 5 days. During the summer months of July and August (about 8 weeks), the schedule shifts to approximately 15 hours per week, worked over 3 days. Exact working hours will be determined by mutual agreement, based on organizational priorities and seasonal workload. Some evening and weekend work will be required, depending on event schedules and tour demands. We are open to discussing flexible scheduling options that accommodate both the needs of the successful candidate and the company.

Key Responsibilities

 

Sales and Promotion

·        Promotes and sells touring shows and workshops to schools and presenters across British Columbia, Canada, and internationally

·        Builds, maintains and develops relationships with schools, district representatives, and presenters

·        Leads all tour and workshop promotional activities to include the production of promotional materials and the coordination of promotional events

·        In collaboration with the General Manager, undertakes Presenter sales strategy and negotiations

·        Performs front-line sales and represents the Theatre at exhibition and showcase events(both in person and virtual)

·        Arranges for preview rehearsal and show days at a host school(usually no charge to the school)

 

Contracting and Administration

·        Maintains and updates the touring database SUMAC

·        Generates contracts & invoices for all performances and follows up for payment

·        Acts as a resource to the General Manager on the planning and preparation of touring grant applications

·        Maintains touring statistics to include compiling stats and reports at the end of the tour/season for end-of-season reports

 

Planning and Management

·        Leads annual sales strategy development

·        Registers for promotional contacts and showcase opportunities

 

Budget Management

·        Create tour sales and promotion budget for the season in collaboration with the General Manager and outreach and marketing staff

·        Work with the society bookkeeper to manage and track expenses

·        Report to the General Manager any variances between budget projections and actual results regularly

 

Other duties as required.

 

Qualifications

·        Demonstrated ability and experience in sales

·        Experience with customer relationship management (CRM)software/program – preference will be shown to applicants who have demonstrated experience working with Sumac

·        Experience with contracts (drafting and comprehension) and invoicing

·        Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

·        Comprehensive proficiency in working with the Microsoft Office Suite

·        Outstanding attention to detail - highly organized nature, with a keen sense of the importance of updating and maintaining schedules and records

·        Strong work ethic and passion for live theatre for youth, which focuses on social justice

·        Strong sense of initiative and problem-solving skills

·        Strong time management and multi-tasking skills

·        Must be familiar with the performing arts ecology locally and across Canada

 

Assets

·        Post-secondary training or equivalent professional experience in theatre production, arts administration, and/or event management

·        Experience working with and/or under Canadian Actor Equity Agreements and/or Canadian Theatre Agreement contracts

·        Previous tour coordination

·        Holds a Class 5 BC Driver’s License
