Associate Artistic Director

It is with great pride that Green Thumb announces the promotion of Rachel Aberle from Community Engagement Coordinator to Associate Artistic Director. Now in her third year with the company, this position will see Rachel integrate the administrative experience she has gained during her time as Community Engagement Coordinator with her extensive artistic background. With comprehensive mentorship from Artistic Director Patrick McDonald, Rachel will contribute to Green Thumb's existing operations, and aid in increasing the company's capacity through some exciting initiatives she will be spearheading over the coming months.

On welcoming Rachel into this new role, Patrick reflected upon the mentorship role Green Thumb often plays for early career artists. "So many actors, designers and playwrights have gotten their start with us. It's important to recognize that the role of Artistic Director is it's own vocation, in and of itself. I'm thrilled to welcome Rachel into this side of theatre - where I know she will excel."

"I made both my professional acting and professional playwriting debuts with Green Thumb. When I made the decision to venture into the administrative side of theatre, it seemed only natural to do so here," says Aberle. "These past two years working full-time at Green Thumb have enhanced my artistic practice and broadened my skill set beyond expectation. I can't wait to dive into this new role, as I endeavour to deepen my practice even further, and take on new challenges and responsibilities day by day."
