AUDITION | LIKE IT OR NOT, role of ZOEY

Application deadline: June 27, 2022

Posted: May 26, 2022

Green Thumb Theatre is accepting submissions from Lower Mainland based performers for the role of ZOEY in LIKE IT OR NOT, by Katey Hoffman, directed by Rachel Aberle. The show will be touring to elementary schools throughout BC & venues in Ontario in the spring of 2023.

Contract dates (subject to change):

January 9, 2023 – April 16, 2023

All artists will be engaged under a CTA form of contract, specifically Article 55:00 Theatre for Young Audiences. Submissions from Equity and non-Equity performers are welcome. Accommodations are arranged and per diems are supplied for any out-of-town touring as per the CTA.

About the show:

Best friends Leah and Zoey have been inseparable since kindergarten. They like all the same things: soccer, tacos, and well, soccer. As their teacher Madame LaGrange is always saying, they’re two peas in la pod! But now that they’re in Grade five, Leah would rather spend more time posting pics with mega fashionista Makayla than on the soccer field. It makes Zoey wonder… Maybe their shared interests aren’t so shared after all? This new comedy from the author of the Green Thumb hit, WHAT IF, takes a closer look at how young people can become more obsessed with how they’re seen online than how they’re seen “IRL”, and explores what happens when two friends start to grow up and grow apart. Join Zoey and Leah as they try to navigate the pressures of finding out who they are in an increasingly virtual world and try to understand how to not only accept the changes in their evolving friendships, but how to embrace them.

Roles to be cast:

Zoey -- 11-years-old. Leah’s best friend. Gregarious, the life of the party, class clown. She wears grass-stained denim and loves soccer.

Character will be portrayed by adult actor.

All other roles have been cast.
