FOR NOW AUDITION POSTING

Application deadline: June 8, 2023

Posted: May 4, 2023

Green Thumb Theatre is seeking submissions from Lower Mainland based performers for the role of JACOB in FOR NOW by Scott Button. Directed by Leslie Dos Remedios.  The show will be touring to secondary schools throughout BC in the winter and spring of 2024.

Contract dates (subject to change):

January 15, 2024 – March 10, 2024

All artists will be engaged under a CTA form of contract, specifically Article 55:00 Theatre for Young Audiences. Submissions from Equity and non-Equity performers are welcome. Accommodations are arranged and per diems are supplied for any out-of-town touring as per the CTA.

About the show:

From the outside, best pals Jacob and Bex may seem like an odd pairing: Jacob is queer and comes from a wealthy family, while Bex is straight and working class – yet they’ve navigated the minefield of high school together, venting about annoying boys and being passionate advocates for LGBTQ+ causes around their school. On the first day of Grade 12, Bex shares their journey with their gender identity with Jacob – and the world. Will this change Bex and Jacob's friendship forever? Or maybe just for now? FOR NOW is a touching and funny play for youth that explores issues of gender, sexuality, and privilege among two best friends.

Roles to be cast:

Jacob, 17 (he/him) – settler-Canadian of East Asian descent, cisgender, gay. High income family, fashion forward, comfortable in his queer identity. Bex’s bestfriend.

Character will be portrayed by adult actor.
