Giving Tuesday

This #GivingTuesday, help us engage, share, and lift up the stories of youth in our community

Green Thumb is excited to announce that this year for Giving Tuesday we’ve decided to do something a little different. Instead of asking for general funds, we’ve decided to ask for help to move forward a project we’re very passionate about, THE HOME PROJECT

The pilot project for THE HOME PROJECT was launched last season, and consisted of a series of interviews with youth in Greater Vancouver from immigrant, refugee and Canadian born populations. These conversations focused on themes of home and belonging, and explored what home meant to people from different populations, as well as delved into how and where the young people of today feel they do, or don't, belong.

Last season we completed the first half of phase one. Over the course of a few months we collected the stories that students shared with our facilitators, and turned them into a script, which was then read by professional actors for the youth involved. It is our hope, that with your donations we will be able to further development this project by interviewing more youth, engaging more emerging artists, as well as hosting a public reading – all leading towards creating a finished play that will eventually tour as part of our season.
